Programs for International Students
International students have the following options at Southwest University of Science and Technology:
(1) Undergraduate or graduate degree-granting programs;
(2) Visiting student status (non-degree granting) for one or two years;
(3) Short-term language courses or Chinese Studies programs.

Long-term Programs
Undergraduate Programs

1) Application prerequisites: Above the age of 18, with a senior high school diploma and excellent academic record, having passed the HSK examination and gained HSK-6 certificate. If not gaining HSK-6 certificate, the applicant should makeup Chinese studying for one or two years, then pass the examination organized by SWUST.

1) Application prerequisites: A personal resume, Bachelor¡¯s degree diploma, undergraduate academic transcripts, a photocopy of passport, two letters of recommendation from the applicant¡¯s professors (associate or higher rank), having passed HSK and gained the certificate of HSK-6, having passed the entrance examination for postgraduates.

3) Duration: 3 years.

Visiting Student and Scholar Programs

1) Application prerequisites: a personal resume, highest degree certificate, official academic transcripts, certificate of Chinese proficiency level, a photocopy of passport, and two letters of recommendation from university faculty members (associate professor or higher rank). To ensure the quality of teaching, Chinese proficiency examination for visiting student will be held after enrollment. Having passes the examination, the student can begin his/her specialized studying. If not, he/she should makeup Chinese studying. If the student has gained the standard certificate of HSK-B level, he will be free from examination.

Law and Art Studies: US$1600/year;
Humanities: US$1500/year;
Science: US$1800/year.

Short-term Programs

Short-term Chinese Studies Programs
1) Semester Programs for Individual Applicants:
a. Spring Semester
b. Fall Semester
2) Chinese Language Summer School for Individual Applicants:
a. Mandarin and Chinese Culture Summer School;
b. Mandarin Language, Chinese Business and Culture Program.

Tuition:
a. Application fee: US$30 for each member
b. Tuitions: (including the expenses of picking-up and driving to the airport, expenses of the first-week orientation guide)

Accommodations:
a. Student Dorm: US$2 per day, with TV, telephone, Internet access and
Bathroom;
b. Apartment: US$120 per month, with two bedrooms, one living room,
kitchen, TV, telephone, air conditioner, bathroom.
Teaching Arrangements:
A. Class hours: 8 to 12 a.m., Monday through Friday, 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week.
B. Chinese language teaching:
a. Required courses: Chinese reading, spoken Chinese, pronunciation, listening comprehension and video class.
b. Selective courses: Chinese folk-customs, translation, rhetoric,
writing, newspaper reading, classical Chinese, and selected readings of contemporary literature, and etc., putting focus on the ability to use Chinese in real communications.
